Board of Trustees
Jenn Birks discovered Fort Collins in 2007 while working as public relations consultant. After traveling to Fort Collins from Denver for a year, she told her husband she loved Fort Collins and would love to live there. He agreed and in 2009, they made Fort Collins their family home!
Since the move, she has had the privilege of being at home with their two young daughters, while participating in the Fort Collins community. She has served as a board member at her daughter's preschool, as a participant of the Early Childhood Advisory Council for the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery and as chair for the Junior League of Fort Collins' Garden Tour - JLFC's major fundraiser. Throughout all of these activities, she and her daughters have actively participated in story time, summer reading and additional library programs geared toward young children.
Professionally, she managed communications for a variety of clients, whose businesses range from organic dairy to financial services to oil and gas, at two Denver-based public relations agencies - MGA Communications and Linhart Public Relations. She holds a master's degree in International Marketing Management from Bournemouth University and a bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of Denver.
Her interest in the Poudre Library District has grown organically as a library user with small children - both under the age of five. Having little ones has opened her eyes to the importance of early literacy for everyone - no matter background or economic status - to maintain a healthy society.
"I am honored to be on the Poudre Public Library District Board of Trustees and will strive to maintain the library's mission to '...provide universal access to ideas and information to enrich our communities.'"
