Robin Gard, President
Robin Gard moved to Ft. Collins in 1979 after graduating from the University of Oregon with a journalism degree. For eight years, Robin was a city of Fort Collins 911 dispatcher before her family moved aboard a sailboat based out of Florida and the Bahamas. With her husband Mike she home-schooled their son from 2nd grade through high school. They were liveaboard cruisers for 16 years before returning to Ft. Collins in 2003.
She joined the Libraries Yes! Steering Committee in 2006 and worked extensively for the passage of the ballot initiative that created the Poudre River Public Library District. She was appointed to the first Board of Trustees in 2007. She is also active in the Colorado Association of Libraries, serving as chair of the Trustee & Friends Division and as a member of the Intellectual Freedom and Legislative Committees.
"I'm a life-long library lover. It has been very gratifying to be part of the transition that resulted from our becoming a district. We are extremely fortunate to have great community support, and I am very proud of what we have accomplished and of our three tremendous libraries. The library world is in the midst of revolutionary change. We want to appeal not only to our traditional book browsers and borrowers, but also to patrons interested in the convenience of electronic and digital media. Our libraries are welcoming, accessible places packed with resources for our patrons. We believe that we have something to offer each and every person in our community."
