Council Tree Library is now OPEN!

The new branch library on 2733 Council Tree Avenue in southeast Fort Collins opened to the public March 28, 2009 and operates as part of the Poudre River Public Library District. The new branch is a family-oriented facility and emphasizes the most popular materials and services the Library District offers.

The Library occupies the second floor of a highly visible, easily accessible building in Front Range Village, a 900,000 square-foot retail center located on the northwest corner of Ziegler and Harmony Roads. It has an open floor plan that can be easily reconfigured to accommodate changing needs.

The new library represents the culmination of many years of city planning as well as the fulfillment of a commitment made to voters when they supported the creation of a new Poudre River Public Library District in fall 2006. Construction, furnishings and the start up collection were funded by the City of Fort Collins under the management of the City in collaboration with the Library District staff. The Library District assumed ownership at the opening and will pay for the operation, maintenance and staffing of the new branch using funds from the mill levy which established the District for the benefit of the residents.
