Woman with headphones Download and listen to audio books on your computer or portable device. Downloadable eAudiobooks from NetLibrary are digital versions of audiobooks available through the Poudre River Public Library District website through a subscription with NetLibrary that can be played on a desktop or laptop device that supports Windows Media Player.

Getting Started

How to get a Library Card - You will need your library card number.

Login to your NetLibrary account - You will also need a NetLibrary account with a user name and password. If you don't have an account, click 'Create a Free Account' in the upper right hand corner.

Tech Stuff You REALLY Need to Know

Which version of Windows Media Player do you have on your PC? For NetLibrary Classic you need version 10, and for the new Media Center you need version 11. You can download these for free at Microsoft. Sorry, NetLibrary does not support eAudiobook downloads to a Mac computer at this time.

Man using mp3 player Not all portable listening devices are the same! If you want to listen to any eAudiobook regardless of format, you need a portable device that can play both protected WMA files and MP3 files. NetLibrary provides a list of tested players that are compatible with eAudiobooks.

Not all eAudiobooks are offered in every format! Either click 'Preview or download this NetLibrary Audiobook' from a library catalog record OR 'Show Details' from NetLibrary search results to see how an item is formatted. Ipods can play any eAudiobook that is offered in protected MP3 format.

How much space is on your portable device? Devices must have a storage capacity of at least 256 MB, since the average CD quality eAudiobook file size is 140 MB.

What type of Internet connection are you using? The time required to download an eAudiobook depends upon the size of the eAudiobook and the means by which you access the Internet. Broadband or T1 data transfers are recommended. Dialup transfers are just too slow for successful download.
