Detailed FAQ (NetLibrary site) What are downloadable eAudiobooks? Downloadable eAudiobooks from NetLibrary are digital versions of audio books available through the Poudre River Public Library District website. This service is provided by the District through a subscription with NetLibrary. eAudiobooks can be played on a desktop or laptop device that supports Windows Media Player version 11 or higher. eAudiobooks can be transferred to Portable Audio Devices that support playback of MP3 files or WMA files (including the iPod!). For optimal experience, the portable device should have a storage capacity of at least 1 GB and include features for playing long files and returning to a designated place in a file such as full time-stamping and bookmarking. How do I set up a NetLibrary account? Poudre River Public Library District cardholders can sign up for a free NetLibrary account from the NetLibrary link located on the Download Audiobook or Database page. How can I download eAudiobooks? You have a choice of two methods for searching, checking out, and downloading eAudiobooks:
No, the public access patron computers in the library cannot be used to download eAudiobooks at this time. How do I connect to the NetLibrary? There are several ways to access the NetLibrary:
Yes, any eAudiobook with an MP3 file format may be played on an iPod. Each eAudiobook will have an icon to show how it is formatted. eAudiobooks are available in one of two formats:
How many eAudiobooks can I download? NetLibrary limits the download to ten eAudiobooks per account at a time. eAudiobooks are licensed for a check out period of three weeks. eAudiobooks may be renewed for an additional 21 days of access from the date of renewal. How do I check an eAudiobook back into NetLibrary? You cannot check eAudiobooks back into NetLibrary. At the end of the three week checkout period and/or the optional 21 day renewal period, the eAudiobook license will expire and the book will no longer be audible. After the initial three weeks and/or optional 21 day renewal, you will need to remove the eAudiobook from your computer and Personal Audio Device (PAD.) How long does it take to download an eAudiobook? The time required to download an eAudiobook depends upon the size of the eAudiobook and the means by which you access the Internet. Broadband or T1 data transfers are recommended. Dialup transfers are just too slow for successful download. How many titles are available through NetLibrary? NetLibrary currently has approximately 1800 titles available for download with new titles added to the collection every month. |
