Main Library Remodel
Tree Mitigation The interior of Main Library isn’t the only thing changing this winter—the outside landscape is getting a new look, too! During this process, three trees will need to be removed by licensed arborists. These three trees are not tribute or companion trees and are too close to the building. To compensate for their removal, the library is replanting five more. City Forestry employees will be onsite during the construction period to make sure that no trees are damaged during the remodel. They will be using an air spade tool to blow away the soil around the roots so they can see clearly which roots they don’t want to damage and will provide protection to exposed roots. The old trees will be chipped and used as mulch in the new gardens planned for around the library.
