The ratings reward settings that empower children, fostering an active, responsive, child controlled setting.
Home Access Available  Gale Literary Sources: Provides access to biographical and bibliographical information and references on U.S. and international authors and an extensive collection of full-text literary commentary about novelists, poets, playwrights, short story writers, and other creative writers using Contemporary Authors and Literature Criticism Online.
Home Access Available Hoopla: Stream and download movies, television shows, music and audiobooks. Limit is 7 items a month.
Home Access Available  JSTOR (Arts & Sciences): Access to academic journals 3 years old and older in a broad spectrum of disciplines, including education, business, history, language & literature, law, music, psychology, philosophy and public policy. Also included are a large number of journals in the biological sciences. This large backfile includes journals from early in the 1900's.
Home Access Available  Literature, Gale Virtual Reference Library: contains information on American and world literature as well as critical analysis of over 100 individual literary classics of fiction, short stories, and poetry. Text-to-speech available.
Home Access Available  Novelist Plus: information about popular fiction and nonfiction titles that will guide you as you select what to read next. Search among hundreds of thousands of titles. Home Access Available  Oxford English Dictionary: Provides a guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of more than 600,000 words -- past and present -- from across the English-speaking world. This site is not available for use with a temporary card.
Home Access Available PebbleGo: PebbleGo helps teach research skills to K-3 students using built-in reading and research tools such as leveled text, consistent navigation, fun educational games, and spoken-word audio.
Home Access Available  RB Digital: thousands of downloadable fiction and non-fiction audiobooks to be played on a computer or transferred to a portable device. NOTE: Must have a library card to create an account and download.
Home Access Available  TrueFlix: Online resource that leverages the True Books content to help students hone literacy skills, build knowledge of subject-area content, and skills through the inquiry process. All of the True Book titles are supported with a diverse reservoir of related content and primary sources featuring videos, audio, images, and text. For beginningresearchers, it includes a project goal and ideas or questions on how to do research. Related content and web links provide opportunities for further research. NOTE: This database is not accessible with a temporary card.
Home Access Available TumbleBooks: are electronic books with added animation, sound, music and narration which the parent can read to the child, or the child can have read to them via an audio soundtrack. Some titles are available in Spanish or French. TumbleBooks also offers word searches and other puzzles and games.
Home Access Available  WorldCat: search the collections of libraries in the United States and around the world. Search for books, music CDs, videos and digital content, article citations with links to their full text, authoritative research materials, documents and photos of local or historic significance and digital versions of rare items.
