Volunteers are needed at the library! Typical ongoing volunteer jobs include:

• Shelving books
• Telephone holds calling
• Answering questions and giving directions at the Children's Desk
• Mending children's books
• Checking library titles against those on various lists
• Stamping books for Technical Services
• Laminating softback books for Technical Services
• Homebound clerk
• Homebound book selection and delivery substitutes
• Summer Reading Program desk help for all SRP levels: Adult, Teen, Children's (Needed at all three libraries.)
• Assisting the collection development librarians

Who can volunteer?

• YOU can if you are at least 14 years old
• Some jobs need good eyesight and a steady hand
• Others need a strong back (can lift at least 50 lbs)
• Still others need a friendly, helpful attitude
• Some jobs have a desired time commitment

This is an opportunity for community members who want to help out because they like the library and want to give something back to the community…or for no special reason other than it just makes them feel good!

If you need to fulfill court-ordered community service hours in any amount you need to contact the volunteer coordinator at 970-221-6740 for pre-screening and to make arrangements to pick up a Community Service volunteer application packet.

If you are someone who needs to volunteer for less than 12 hours for a school class or scholarship requirement, or other class such as confirmation or martial arts, there is a short-term volunteer application form as well as an application to volunteer to a special event. Longer service learning/internship community service hours may also be available at the library-please ask!
